Clinics We Offer

As well as general medical services we also offer the following:

Cervical Smear Tests

Women are encouraged to have cervical smear tests every three years after they have had two normal smears.  Our nurses perform 90% of the smears but some of our doctors also offer this service.

Family Planning

Family planning or menopause advice (HRT, etc.) is available during any surgery. If you take the pill or HRT then you should see the nurse every six months.

Baby Clinics

Our Practice Nurses run our baby immunisation clinics on a Tuesday morning between 9.15am and 12.00 pm.  A GP runs a 6 week medical examination clinic alongside of these clinics. Health Visitors run general child health clinics on a Wednesday morning for general advice, minor ailments and weighing and measuring babies.

  • Childhood: we recommend that all children receive immunisations as recommended by the Department of Health.
  • Adults: all adults should have a tetanus and polio booster every ten years to a maximum of five.  All patients over 65 years as well as those with chest or heart disease, or diabetes should have a “Flu jab” annually.

Chronic Disease Management

  • Heart disease
  • Diabetes
  • Respiratory disease (Asthma Emphysema, Bronchitis, COPD)
  • Epilepsy
  • Hypertension (high blood pressure)
  • Stroke

We aim to review all patients who fall into any of the above categories on an annual basis.  You should receive a review letter with your prescription requesting you to make an appointment with either a nurse or a doctor.  We strongly advise you attend for your review as this may prevent complications.

Diabetic Clinic

All diabetic patients are requested to see the nurse on either a Tuesday or Thursday for review and then make an appointment to see the doctor at least annually.  All diabetic patients should be seen by the Retinopathy Service for Wales on an annual basis. The practice will refer patients as appropriate.

Asthma Clinic

All patients taking inhalers regularly are requested to see a nurse at least every six months.

Practice Counsellor

Our counsellor attends the practice once per week. Your doctor can arrange an appointment for you.
